Final Academy Blog, Casey Mankin

4 days to go…………

We’ve got a test Tuesday and Thursday, and then we graduate Friday. Other than those tests, that’s perfect! Last week's situational exercises went about like I thought they would. I got killed a few times and learned what not to do next time, but at least it’s over. I guess it's better to screw up there than somewhere else.

This week we’re also finding out who our field training officers are and what shift/side of town we’ll be starting out - everybody’s looking forward to that.

My wife’s due in 14 days so I really need her to hold out on this whole giving birth thing until at least Saturday.

We are asking Casey to continue with his blogging. Please feel free to comment if you would like to see Casey's blogs carry on through his Field Training. -ed.

Santa votes, TWICE, Casey keeps BLOGGING!

Thanks for sharing your experience Casey. My name is Becky Dunlap and I worked with your dad at my past job and heard about your blog from my husband. My husband Quinn is going to OSU Tulsa now to get his bachelors degree and would also like to become a Tulsa Police Officer. He has a private pilots license and his goal is to become a Helicopter pilot for the Tulsa PD. If you decide to continue the blog we will follow along and maybe it will help answer some of the questions my husband is having. I wish you the best of luck and conratulations! Tell your dad I said "Hi".

Casey,

Please keep up the blog, upon completing my bachelors, I plan on applying to join the TPD. I find the blog interesting and a good insight on what to expect.

Quinn Dunlap

As previously stated thanks for sharing your experiences with us who are thinking about applying with the TPD. I would like to hear what you experience in your on the job training. Be safe and good luck with your career and family!

Officer Mankin, My name is James Koch and my father has been a Tulsa Police officer for going on 27 years. I really enjoy your blogs and follow up on them weekly. I actually get upset when a week has passed and nothing has been posted. I am currently attending Tulsa Community College and plan on transferring to NSU to recieve my Bachelor's Degree. My major is still undecided at this point, but I want to join the Tulsa Police Department when I become eligible. I will be 20 in July, so I still have to get my degree and turn 21. I plan on being there about the time I turn 23. We'll see. Thank you for posting your experience with the academy for people that want to become a Tulsa Police officer like myself. I look forward to your continuance. Thanks. -James Koch

This blog is awesome. I hope Casey continues. I'm glued to my computer each week waiting for the next post!

I have forwarded your comments to Casey. He has a lot going on with a new baby arriving and Field Training.
Meanwhile, a new Academy begins early in February and a new Academy Blog will begin. So keep gluing yourselves to the screens!

PLEASE keep your blog going! I love reading it. It gives me something to look forward to when I go through the academy myself.

Yes, please continue the blogs. Hopefully my fiance will be going to the academy soon and I find it interesting to see what he will be going through. I also am expecting a baby in June, so I feel like we are in similar situations here. Did your wife have the baby yet?

I am interested to see what the future holds for Ofc. Mankin. So, please keep the blogs going for his field training. I am in the process of trying to get hired on. I already passed the physical agility and the written. Just have to get that biography back to them. Best of luck to all.

Casey Boykin!!!!!
