Citizen Receives Award for Bravery

On February 16 2006, Officer Tom Barbee went inside a burning apartment complex at 5100 S Delaware Ave. His efforts saved a victim's life. He was subsequently awarded the Tulsa Police Department Medal of Valor. Officer Barbee was not the only hero on that day.

Scott Cooksey was leaving his office and observed the fire. While other citizens watched the life saving efforts of Officer Barbee, Scott Cooksey decided to help. Disregarding his own safety, Mr. Cooksey entered the burning building and provided assistance to Officer Barbee.

The Tulsa Police Department is extremely grateful to Scott Cooksey. Today, Cooksey was presented with the Citizens Appreciation Award from the Tulsa Police Department. Deputy Chief McCrory and Officer Barbee presented the award.Cookseybarbee

Again, Thank You Scott for your bravery.
